Board of Directors, RISE
Ellen Galloway is the President of the RISE Board of Directors. She has traveled to Uganda twice through her work with RISE, the first time in 2017 and then in 2019 and is well loved by all of our survivor friends in Uganda! She first became involved with RISE in 2014 through her friend, Dr. Angie Vredeveld. (Ellen and Angie became friends when Angie reached out to Ellen about her work in Rwanda, as featured in a Women Writing for a Change Podcast.)
Ellen is a professional writer-editor. She retired from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, part of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ellen has done healthcare-related work in Sierra Leone, Rwanda, and Uganda. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Miami University and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Cincinnati.
