About Daniel

Daniel is from Uganda. In 2007, his friend attacked him with acid, probably because he wanted to steal from Daniel. Life became difficult, and he had to spend many years being hospitalized, returning again and again for surgeries and skin grafting.

RISE has helped him to build self-confidence and gave him the opportunity to participate in a business skills training and microloans program in 2018 through which he learned how to plan and manage his own mobile phone business. He recently started his own electronics shop, which is his main source of income.

He has also been making paper beads for 10 years. Selling these crafts helps him get closer to his business goals. He uses the extra money to look after his family and do a few side projects. He also participated in a jewelry training put on by RISE in 2018, where he learned to make jewelry from masai beads.

Why does Daniel need the microloan?

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Daniel worked in his brother-in-law’s electronics shop. However, after COVID hit, his brother-in-law could not longer afford to pay him, so Daniel lost his job. He needed to find another job to support his family, so he started his own small electronics shop. Now, he needs a microloan because he wants to buy phones and other electronic gadgets to add to his shop so that he can make more money to support his wife and five children.

How will he repay the money?

Daniel will pay in one month installments with a 3% interest rate. After he finishes repaying the microloan, Hope Care Rescue Mission will use this money for microloans for other survivors.
