We’re almost there! Please help us make this happen!

$3,195 of $3,000 raised

On April 2-4 at Victoria Travel Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, RISE will be hosting two large-scale events.  The first, happening April 2, is the launch of the Situational Analysis.  At this meeting, we will present the results and recommendations from our research.  The event is open to the Ugandan public (and we’ll live stream it on zoom for international audiences.)  In the afternoon of April 2, all day April 3, and the morning of April 4, a smaller group (approximately 30 attendees) will meet for stakeholder meetings.  In these, participants will meet as focus groups and as a larger group to discuss the bill that Arnold has drafted and make recommendations to that bill so that it is in the best shape possible before we present it to the Ugandan Parliament for consideration.  These meetings are standard practice and necessary for consideration of bills in Uganda. The series of meetings is costing RISE approximately $20,000.  This includes renting the hotel for three days for approximately 50 people, hiring videographers, and paying for transport costs of survivors traveling long distances.  We are a small, all volunteer organization, so $20,000 is a big bill for us!  However, we are determined to make this happen.  For the past few months, RISE has been reaching out to individual donors and together with sales from the RISE Artisan Marketplace, we have raised $17,000.  We are really close and need your help to raise the last $3000.  You can also shop the RISE Artisan Marketplace.  Proceeds from sales will go directly to our legal fund and will be reflected in the tally you see on this page, so please shop!
